A 32-year-old man is being held on $20,000 cash bail for allegedly burglarizing a home in the Town of Pomfret. Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies received a 911 call from a resident on Chautauqua Road at about 12:15 PM Wednesday. An investigation into multiple vehicle larcenies in the Village of Silver Creek and the Town of Sheridan has led to three arrests. Severe weather rocked parts of Western New York Thursday afternoon. Erie County got the worst of it, as two confirmed tornadoes touched down. No injuries were reported following a train fire late Thursday morning in Sheridan. Firefighters from Sheridan and East Dunkirk responded to the CSX tracks near Middle Road at 11:40 AM. The unemployment rate in New York State went up slightly for the month of June. Preliminary figures released Thursday by the State Labor Department show that the state's jobless rate increased by one-tenth of a percent to 4.5%.
